Read Romans 10
“Jesus is Lord”   Romans 10:9   (Note:  This is the first ‘confession’ (statement of faith) of the early Church)

Simple Logic Tells Me . . .

. .. . . . that if Jesus is Lord (1 Corinthians 15:27) that means that Jesus is running things on planet earth.   Nothing is outside of his control.   Therefore . . . . (complete this sentence in your own words)

. . . . .. .that if Jesus is Lord, then he’s ‘in the know’.   He knows stuff, including the ins and outs of every decision I have in front of me.   How smart am I when I have access to the most brilliant mind, the most precise wisdom in the cosmos, when I don’t consult him?   When I don’t consult him,  I am being either stupid or lazy or prideful or I just don’t believe that he’s really Lord . . . or all four!  Therefore . . . . (complete this sentence in your own words)

. . . . . .that if Jesus is Lord, CEO of the affairs of planet earth, then something else must be going on other than what I see on the news, which tends to make Jesus look to the average guy like an incompetent CEO!   But then I realize that the cross is what God/Jesus/Holy Spirit is like.   God’s power always works non-coercively, always from the bottom up, always through humility and service and suffering.   The moment that wordly power tries to co-opt Jesus’s power is the moment it gets corrupted (just read the bible or world history since Constantine!)   Therefore . . . . (complete this sentence in your own words)

. .. . . . . that if Jesus is Lord, then happy endings are the endings that reflect reality and those who see happy endings as naïve have yet to grasp the real world in which we find ourselves.  Therefore . . . . (complete this sentence in your own words)

. . . . . .. that if Jesus is Lord, then the “real world’ is the world seen as it is through the eyes of the biblical story, the Gospel (Good News) worldview.   When people say to believers things like “I live in the ‘real world’” they mean the world that they see and interpret wearing their temporal set of glasses with self-crafted lenses.   Therefore . . . . (complete this sentence in your own words)

. . . . . . . that if Jesus is Lord, then the entire purpose of all learning must be to put people in touch with that reality.  Therefore . . . . (complete this sentence in your own words)

Pray
“Lord, give me eyes to see reality, your world as it is, not as it so often appears to me, dulled by my selfishness, and clouded by my woes.  Give me glimpses of your Loving Lordship, and if it pleases you, give them to me, at least occasionally, just when I need them most.   Amen”
